Tried a New Hairspray

Upon a recommendation, I decided to try a new hairspray from the Sebastian line. Okay, I actually tried two new hairsprays!

So often in this East Coast humidity I'll style my hair just how I like it and walk outside just for all my curls to straighten out more than if I had slept on them. No bueno! We were having a family photo shoot on the beach and I really needed my hair to withstand the humidity and any added moisture from ocean spray. So after styling it with the normal products I used Sebastian Shaper Plus. It even says right on the bottle "with humidity resistance."

We haven't gotten the pics back from the photographers yet, but here's a snapshot of us eating ice cream from that night. My hair was still curled!! Hallelujah!

Another day I tried Sebastian Shaper Zero Gravity.

It was great to use as styling agent, I'd spray it on before curling sections of hair and just like the bottle says it's "brushable." I loved how it didn't make my curls crunchy, but really soft and natural looking.

Just for Fun

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to take decent pictures of the back of your own head! Alas, here's a couple pics from my phone.

I love that when you start trying new things they can turn into something you didn't even envision!

Jeneca

Love this girl so much! Jen is a dear friend of mine from my dancing days at BYU. She was such a HUGE help on my wedding day, doing her hair for her big day was the least I could do to repay her. I was honored she let me be her stylist! Isn't she gorgeous?!

Photo Shoot

First, I am so grateful to my friend Amanda who sacrificed her evening to be my model for this shoot. She is so beautiful and was so gracious to let me do her hair and make-up when she really should have been studying for an exam. Amanda has such pretty brown hair with the perfect highlights to show off the intricacies of an up-style.

Alright now, let's be honest here . . . I'm kinda disappointed with the photographer, because I asked him to be sure to get some good shots of Amanda's hair and not just her face. Talk about a little disappointed when I looked through the pics and discovered none of them capture the detail that was in the back of this style.

Alicia

Alicia has gorgeous red hair. We smoothed out all her natural curls and she opted for a low chignon-style at her neck. I think she looked absolutely elegant with this sleek style.

Genn's Extreme Haircut

Okay, so this isn't an up-style at all, but I had to include it because I have never nor will I probably ever again in my lifetime cut off so much hair. My friend, Genn, had been growing her hair for (I think) 7 years and decided to cut it off in order to sell it. She has the shiniest brown hair. I don't doubt someone would pay big bucks for it! I know it was quite a shock to her, but doesn't she look darling with short hair?!

Rachelle Smith

Rachelle and I went to hair school together. She has such a loving demeanor that is so contagious! Isn't she a  stunning bride?! And small world, she married the brother-in-law of my wedding photographer, Kellee Smith (who pretty much is the best wedding photographer to work with ever).

It was an interesting challenge to style her hair because she had sew-in extensions at the time (which I'm pretty sure she had her husband cut out the day after their wedding because she was so done with them!). Nevertheless we got all the hair up and didn't reveal any of the braids where the hair was sewn in.
